2006 Halloween events

Each year, there have been special Halloween events; some lasting just a day, others lasting over a week. The 2006 Halloween events were similar to the 2005 Halloween events, although not identical.

The Start

The 2006 Halloween events began with the introduction of masks to the palace shoppe on October 26th, 2006. For the first time, these masks had to be purchased in the palace shoppe rather than buying them from tailor shoppes. Normal hats were not affected by the events. Although a few Ocean Masters turned themselves into zombies for entertainment, there was no immediate sign of a fourth team competition.

The highlight of the Halloween events was the Arrrmageddon event which began October 27th, 2006. In this team event, the focus was on pillaging. All pirates were transformed into translucent ghosts. Players' legs and feet were replaced by a genie-like tail. To compete, pirates had to sail the seas and defeat skellie brigands and zombie barbarians. Each crew belonged to one of six teams. Pillaging with that crew increased that team's standing. The team with the highest ranking at the end won.

Opting out

Pirates could out opt by going to Ye > Options > General and disabling "special event effects." This would return virtually everything to normal, although other pirates would still appear as ghosts. Players who opted out could still participate in the team competition.

Bugs

There were a few known bugs:

• The minimap sea was still blue instead of blood-red,
• Not all of the brigands and barbarians transformed to their supernatural counterparts.
• Taking off shoes while as a ghost produced extra legs. To fix this, players had to disable and re-enable the special event effects.

Competition Results

Trinkets were awarded to players who participated in the competition.
