About Family Oceans
What are Family Oceans?
Family Oceans work much like Doubloon Oceans, only they are intended to be appropriate for players of all ages: kid pirates and adult pirates alike! Family Oceans have stricter restrictions on chat between players, as well as some other changes that make them more appropriate to younger pirates.
The major differences between a Family Ocean and a standard Puzzle Pirates Ocean are:
- Chat between pirates is strictly filtered using a prescribed list of approved words. Similar restrictions exist for pirate, crew and flag names. This is different from regular Oceans, where chat is limited to *exclude* certain words and phrases.
- Mature elements included in the regular game reflecting the game's pirate theme (such as rum, wagering, and card games) are unavailable.
- Membership to the Golden Doubloon Club, a premium game subscription that provides a Doubloon stipend and other in-game benefits to players, is available.
You can learn more about doubloons here.
Why Family Oceans?
Puzzle Pirates is a fun online game featuring tons of different minigames and puzzles that players can compete with and against each other in. Previously, however, it was only available to pirates over the age of thirteen. We as a company felt that this was a shame, as we think that Puzzle Pirates is a great game that has universal appeal.
Puzzle Pirates Family provides an environment that is safe and fun for players of every age in the hopes that younger pirates, and their friends, and their families can all sail the ocean together and have a fantastic time!
